Soap that grows on a tree?
Yes, saponin does grow on a tree, as it is a a naturally occurring substance in soapberries. The rest of our ingredients (other than the 0.2% of which are food grade preservatives) are also made exclusively from plants that have a myriad of other uses. The soap berries are harvested annually, and the trees live on and on.

How does it work?
The saponin in our soapberry extract is activated by water and agitation in your washing machine. So just add Berry + to your wash as you would any other detergent, but be careful only to add a single 2ml microdose (a little less than ½ tsp), because that's all you need.

Will only 2ml of soap really clean my clothes?
Yes. A little really does go a long way, even if you have a big load to do. But remember not to overstuff the machine, because the clothes and water need space to move around (agitate). It is a myth perpetuated by the chemical industry that "the more soap, the better."

In fact, if you use more soap, you may be doing more harm than good because too much detergent leaves residue in your machine and on your clothes, which can build up over time.

In fact, another leading brand of detergent has come out with a washing machine cleaner to remove the odor-causing residue and gunk that other detergents (including its own?) leave behind. Why not simply prevent the residue from building up in the first place?

Is it safe?
Yes, for you, your family, your clothes and the planet. And it's less irritating than other leading brands (we know because we had them tested against each other). In fact, Berry+ is so safe and gentle that we do not have to include any warnings or first-aid instructions on our product. That said, we'd prefer you not to eat our soap, because (like all soap products) it may upset your stomach, and it doesn't taste very good.

Does your product contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) or sodium laureth sulfate (SLES)?
No. There is some debate as to whether SLS and SLES cause or contribute to adverse health conditions. So until that debate is resolved, we choose not to use any questionable ingredients, because we don't have to.

What about fragrance, dyes, bubbles and other stuff?
No, Berry+ is specifically designed to be the purest, most natural soap available, without any ingredients that may irritate even the most sensitive skin.

Where does your soap come from?
The Chinese soapberry tree that is found in the Himalayan foothills where it has grown for thousands of years. Our soap is then made and packaged at a single location in the southwestern United States.

Laundry 101
Laundry isn't rocket science. To clean clothes, add water (preferably cold water) and soap (preferably Berry +) then agitate. It's that simple.

How do I use Berry+?
Pop the cap on our convenient single-serving capsule; pour the contents directly into the wheel or soap tray, turn machine on, go away and do something fun for a while; and voila, you will have clean clothes. Finally, be sure to recycle our capsules and compost (or plant outside) our outer packaging.

Do I need to use fabric softener with Berry+?
No, because Berry+ already has natural fabric softening built right in.

Do I need to use bleach and/or pre-spotting stain remover?
Berry+ is not a bleach product. So if you want to use bleach, please choose an oxygen-based (rather than chlorinated) bleach product.

For heavy stains, you can dab a few drops of Berry+ on the stain, rub it in, and wait a few minutes before washing. Pre-spotting will not require you to increase the amount of Berry+ you need to do a load of laundry, because that small amount you used to pre-spot goes into the machine too.

Why doesn't your soap bubble and froth like others?
Because we don't add any frothing or foaming agents, or any other stuff that doesn't make your clothes cleaner. Bubbles don't clean. The other guys put bubbles in their soup to make you think something clean is happening, which presupposes that you have nothing better to do while doing laundry than watch a bubble machine. Ours bubbles, but only a little, because that's the way the berry is.
